Refraining from the usage of mobile phones inflight may soon become a thing of the past. Emirates, the Dubai-based Airlines has taken the lead in this innovation which allows passengers to use their mobile phones while in air. Emirates’ Boeing 777-300s are now equipped with this new technology which allows passengers to make calls and SMS text messages en route to their destinations.

The technology developed by AeroMobile was installed by Emirates in its Airbus A340-300 jets in March this year. The technology has been installed in A330-200s, A340-300s, A340-500s and Boeing 777s fleets of the Emirates Airlines. It may not be long before this technological innovation is introduced in other aircraft as well.
