August 5th, 2008Nokia E 71: Slim Qwerty Business mobile phone
Nokia E71 is a stylish business mobile phone, with a big bold screen. Nokia has managed to get this one close to the Blackberry mobile phones. With just 11 mm thickness, they claim the phone to be the world’s slimmest qwerty keyboard mobile phone.
Weighing 127 grams it is a bit heavy and looks a bit broad but they have done a good job with a beautiful metal finish and Nokia’s Keypads are among one of the best in the markets.
As with any business mobile phone, E-mail and Internet are the main features. E-mail being the far more useful feature, Internet may be just for those stock quotes. Other things are just fancy extras for the really busy people.
One of the useful features is the light signal showing unread messages, a very promitent technology in Blackberry, where a red light keeps blinking when you have an unread message and goes back to the usual green after you have finished reading it.
Good loud speaker on the top, can be useful when driving or when the phone starts to heat up the ears. You can also have two different screens, they are trying to put a computer on the mobile phone here, which is a bit too much for a mobile phone.
Nokia says “E-mail, organise, access and explore” for this phone. It should really do that when 3G hits the country.
Other features include 3.2 mega pixel camera which is good considerating it is a business phone, data encryption, around 10 hours of GSM talk time, 17 days of GSM stand-by, web browsing (supports HTML, XHTML, MP, WML, CSS ) video, music, audio playback (.mp3, .wma, .aac, AAC+, eAAC+), FM radio, personalized themes, ring tonesand profiles. It comes in two colours, Grey Steel and White Steel.
