October 13th, 2008Samsung I900 Omnia with windows Mobile 6.1
This phone, on first glace, makes a good impression. With its slim form factor and 3.2inch display, one is ensured of effortless usability. The only thing which goes against it is the overly thick stylus which looks more like an eye-liner! A separate sensor for optical mouse is provided though. The phone doesn’t have a swap slot for microSD but the provision of 8GB (or 16GB) tries to compensate for it.
Powered by Windows Mobile OS v6.1, this handset is quite powerful. The screen is not comfortably readable in direct sunlight though. The accelerometer performs smoothly and its sensitivity can be controlled. You can navigate the menus with either finger touch, or optical mouse of stylus. Finger-touch is the preferred way to go as the large screen makes operating the menus quite an experience. The menus are totally customizable as well. A secondary media player called ‘Touch Player’ is also incorporated besides the standard Windows Media Player, as well as there is an alternative image viewer program. The onscreen touch-keypad seems to occupy too much space though. The video performance is smooth and the phone supports DivX and XviD formats.
Connectivity wise, it has support for 3G, EDGE and GPRS. Since it is a business phone, features like MSOffice file support, pdf and rss reader functionalities are very well supported. The 5MP camera provides good image quality. The battery life could be used for improvement though.
