India, is one of the fastest growing telecom markets with over 8 million new subscribers every month, but only a fraction of that number uses their mobiles to access the Internet.

Mobile users in India are generally wary of accessing the Internet through GPRS because of the hefty price they may have to pay to the service provider.

July Systems a telecom company based at Bangalore has found a solution to this problem. Refraining from the usage of mobile phones inflight may soon become a thing of the past. Emirates, the Dubai-based Airlines has taken the lead in this innovation which allows passengers to use their mobile phones while in air. Emirates’ Boeing 777-300s are now equipped with this new technology which allows passengers to make calls and SMS text messages en route to their destinations.

The technology developed by AeroMobile was installed by Emirates in its Airbus A340-300 jets in March this year. The technology has been installed in A330-200s, A340-300s, A340-500s and Boeing 777s fleets of the Emirates Airlines. It may not be long before this technological innovation is introduced in other aircraft as well.

Studies have now shown that using cell phones may prove to be a more harmful threat to people’s health than smoking. This disturbing fact is the result of numerous studies which have researched the link between mobile phones and malignant brain tumors.

It has now been proven that using a cell phone for more than 10 years could double the risk of brain cancer. The cancer is caused by the exposure to electromagnetic radiation emitted by these devices.
