Sony-Ericsson Z310i lives up to its promotional tag, which says “Design coming to life”. For those who are looking for a cool and trendy handset, this is the one. It offers a unique facility of personalizing light effects and themes. Z310i is yet another clamshell phone by Sony-Ericsson. It is available in three attractive colors including jet black, lush pink and brush bronze. The smooth finishing; glossy exterior and monochrome external screen are some of the trendsetting features of this model.
It features a 128×160 pixel screen, built in memory of 14Mbyte, Bluetooth, USB and infrared connections. It offers an awesome battery life of up to 7 hours of talk time and up to 300 hours of standby time. Though the list of features for this phone is lower than other Sony-Ericsson handsets, you get some interesting and handy built-in features. It supports GPRS, EDGE, GSM and WAP. The music software called “PlayNow” supports AAC and MP3 music files.
The phone does not automatically come with all the accessories, thus forcing buyers to purchase them individually. There is no data-cord available with the phone. Hence, in order to connect it with the PC, a complete PC suite software has to be installed. It is available on the Sony-Ericsson official website. The headphones must be bought for its personalized use. Never-the-less, Z310i possesses several features which were not included in its former version Z310.

Despite being a Smart phone, this little beauty is not only good looking but also has appreciable multimedia features. This sleek model measures 106 x 49 x 13 mm and weighs only 99g. You can carry it comfortably in your pocket without producing any bulge.
The TFT touchscreen is 2.4 inches and the keypad carries the conventional design of Sony Ericsson phones, with standard Back and Cancel keys and 5-way navigation pad. Hot keys for Messages and Notes are also provided. The USB/Earphone/Charger slot is situated on the left hand side. A missed call/new messages indicator LED is also provided which a very useful feature SE has incorporated in this phone. Now you don’t need to unlock the phone and look towards the screen every now and then.
The phone uses Symbian OS which fully utilizes the 208 MHz ARM9 CPU and 128MB of RAM. While this is not exactly sufficient for power users, it is more than sufficient for an average user. The main screen has 11 main menu buttons which are totally customizable. You can freely scribble on the ‘Notes’ app, which comes in handy when you have to hurriedly take notes.
A Blue tooth headset accompanies the phone, which is only good for calls and not so much for movies and music. For Internet surfing, Opera 8 browser is provided. WiFi functionality is impressive and the phone also has a blackberry push-mail option. RSS feeds, QuickOffice completes the feature set. The music quality is satisfactory, but the 5MP camera leaves something to be desired. The battery too, will drain frequently if you use many features of the phone.
Overall, while this Smart phone is feature rich, underpowered processor and average battery performance prevents it from becoming the ‘easily recommendable’ one.
